A bill for an act
relating to elections; prohibiting certain public
officials from serving as officers of principal
campaign committees or candidate committees; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 10A.11, subdivision
1; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 211A.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 10A.11,
subdivision 1, is amended to read:
Subdivision 1.
Chair and treasurer.
A political
committee, principal campaign committee, or party unit must have
a chair and a treasurer. The chair and treasurer may be the

a municipal clerk must not serve as chair or treasurer of a
principal campaign committee.

[211A.15] CERTAIN PUBLIC OFFICIALS NOT TO BE
OFFICERS OF CANDIDATE COMMITTEES.

The secretary of state, a county auditor, and a municipal
clerk must not serve as chair or treasurer or hold any other
office with a candidate's committee under this chapter or with a
committee authorized by a candidate for president.
