A bill for an act
relating to drivers' licenses; authorizing placement
of disabled veteran status on drivers' licenses;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 171.07, by
adding a subdivision.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 171.07, is
amended by adding a subdivision to read:

(a) At the request of
a disabled veteran who presents evidence from the United States
Department of Veterans Affairs that is satisfactory to the
commissioner and shows the veteran has a 100 percent military
service-connected disability, the department shall issue, renew,
or reissue to the veteran a driver's license or Minnesota
identification card bearing a graphic or written indication that
the holder is a 100 percent disabled veteran.

(b) The commissioner of natural resources shall accept a
driver's license or identification card described in paragraph
(a) as proof of 100 percent disabled veteran status for purposes
of section 97A.441, subdivisions 5, 6, and 6a.
