     424.23 Military service included in service.  

    Any applicant for a service pension who, subsequent to 
 entry into the service of the fire department, has served in the 
 military forces of the United States in the world war, or having 
 during the war entered the employment of the government of the 
 United States and in such service rendered fire prevention 
 service during the war, and has returned, after honorable 
 discharge from such service, and resumed active duty in the fire 
 department, the period of absence in the service of the United 
 States shall not be deducted in computing the period of service 
 hereinbefore provided for, but shall be construed and counted as 
 a part and portion of active duty in the fire department.
