KEY:stricken= old language to be removed underscored = new language to be added CHAPTER 429-H.F.No. 532 An act relating to veterans; proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article XIII, section 8, permitting the payment of a monetary bonus to veterans of the Persian Gulf War. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED.] An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article XIII, section 8, is proposed to the people. If the amendment is adopted, the section will read as follows: Sec. 8. The state may pay an adjusted compensation to persons who served in the armed forces of the United States during the period of the Vietnam conflict or the Persian Gulf War. Whenever authorized and in the amounts and on the terms fixed by law, the state may expend monies and pledge the public credit to provide money for the purposes of this section. The duration of the Vietnam conflict and the Persian Gulf War may be defined by law. Sec. 2. [SUBMISSION TO VOTERS.] The proposed amendment shall be submitted to the people at the 1996 general election. The question submitted shall be: "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to permit the payment of bonuses to veterans of the Persian Gulf War? Yes ....... No ........"
