A bill for an act
relating to higher education; providing for inclusion of agricultural science
education courses in the Minnesota transfer curriculum by the Minnesota State
Colleges and Universities.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MINNESOTA TRANSFER CURRICULUM; AGRICULTURAL
SCIENCE EDUCATION.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any law, guideline, policy, or articulation agreement to
the contrary, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities must apply agricultural
science education credits in calculating a student's completion of the Minnesota transfer
curriculum's natural sciences requirement (Goal 3).

new text begin (b) The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities must
certify its compliance with this section to the chairs and ranking minority members of the
committees of the legislature with jurisdiction over higher education finance and policy,
and agriculture finance and policy, no later than January 15, 2017.

new text begin This section is effective the day following final enactment.
To the extent that a guideline, policy, or articulation agreement related to the Minnesota
transfer curriculum must be updated to reflect the requirements of this section, those
updates must be completed no later than January 1, 2017.
