  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to insurance; fire; regulating proof of loss; 
  1.3             amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 65A.01, by 
  1.4             adding a subdivision. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 65A.01, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 7.  [ADDITIONAL TIME TO AMEND OR SUBMIT PROOF OF LOSS 
  1.9   STATEMENT.] (a) The insurer shall allow the insured to amend or 
  1.10  extend submission of the proof of loss statement for good cause 
  1.11  for an additional 60 days. 
  1.12     (b) This subdivision does not apply to claims subject to 
  1.13  section 65A.296.
