  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to certain cities in metropolitan counties; 
  1.3             authorizing restrictions on the operation of 
  1.4             recreational motor vehicles; proposing coding for new 
  1.5             law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 465. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [465.80] [OPERATION OF RECREATIONAL MOTOR 
  1.8   VEHICLES.] 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITION.] As used in this section, the 
  1.10  term "recreational motor vehicle" means any self-propelled motor 
  1.11  vehicle and any vehicle propelled or drawn by a self-propelled 
  1.12  motor vehicle for off-road recreational purposes. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [CITY AUTHORITY TO REGULATE.] A statutory or home 
  1.14  rule charter city of the first or second class located within 
  1.15  the seven metropolitan counties defined in section 473.121, 
  1.16  subdivision 4, may impose restrictions or prohibitions on the 
  1.17  operation of recreational motor vehicles on property owned by 
  1.18  the operator if the property is five or fewer acres in area. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  1.21  enactment.
