  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; requiring flags in the 
  1.3             Capitol area to be flown at half-staff following death 
  1.4             of a public safety officer killed in the line of duty; 
  1.5             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.6             chapter 1. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [1.51] [FLAGS FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF FOLLOWING 
  1.9   PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER DEATH.] 
  1.10     Each American flag and Minnesota flag flown on the grounds 
  1.11  of the Capitol area, as described in section 15B.02, must be 
  1.12  flown at half-staff following the death of a public safety 
  1.13  officer killed in the line of duty in Minnesota.  The flags must 
  1.14  be flown at half-staff for a period of time determined by the 
  1.15  governor.
