  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to railroads; prohibiting the metropolitan 
  1.3             council from further activities relating to the Dan 
  1.4             Patch commuter rail line; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             2000, section 473.399, by adding a subdivision.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 473.399, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [DAN PATCH COMMUTER RAIL LINE; PROHIBITION.] On 
  1.10  and after July 1, 2002, the council may not take any action or 
  1.11  spend any money for study, planning, preliminary engineering, or 
  1.12  final design for the commuter rail line identified in the 
  1.13  council's transit 2020 master plan as the Dan Patch line. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2002.
