A bill for an act
relating to education; modifying certain Board of School Administrators
provisions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivisions
2, 9.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivision 2, is amended to
read:
The board shall review and approve new text begin or
disapprove new text end preparation programs for school administrators and alternative preparation
programs for administrators under section 122A.27, and must consider other alternative
competency-based preparation programs leading to licensure.
Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, is amended to read:
Each person licensed by the Board of School Administrators
shall pay the board deleted text begin an annualdeleted text end new text begin anew text end fee of $75new text begin , collected each fiscal yearnew text end . The board may
provide a lower fee for persons on retired or inactive status. new text begin After receiving notice from
the board, any licensed school administrator who does not pay the fee in the given fiscal
year shall have all administrative licenses held by the person automatically suspended,
without the right to a hearing, until the fee has been paid to the board. new text end The executive
secretary shall deposit the fees in the state treasury.

This section is effective for fiscal year 2013 and later.

Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, the Board
of School Administrators may adjust the amount of the fee collected under Minnesota
Statutes, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, in 2012 and fiscal year 2013 to facilitate the
transition from an annual to a fiscal year fee structure.
