A bill for an act
relating to education; modifying certain Board of School Administrators
provisions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivisions
2, 9.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivision 2, is amended to
read:


Subd. 2.

Preparation programs.

The board shall review and approve new text begin or

new text end preparation programs for school administrators and alternative preparation
programs for administrators under section 122A.27, and must consider other alternative
competency-based preparation programs leading to licensure.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, is amended to read:


Subd. 9.

Each person licensed by the Board of School Administrators

notice of the license fee, the board also must notify the licensee of the penalty for failing
to make timely payment of the fee.
new text end The board may provide a lower fee for persons on
retired or inactive status. new text begin After receiving notice from the board, any licensed school
administrator who does not pay the fee in the given fiscal year shall have all administrative
licenses held by the person automatically suspended, without the right to a hearing, until
the fee has been paid to the board. If the board suspends a licensed school administrator
for failing to pay the fee, it must immediately notify the district currently employing the
school administrator of the school administrator's suspension.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, the Board
of School Administrators may adjust the amount of the fee collected under Minnesota
Statutes, section 122A.14, subdivision 9, in 2012 and fiscal year 2013 to facilitate the
transition from an annual to a fiscal year fee structure.
