relating to education finance; authorizing a grant for the Beacons School Success
program; requiring a report; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Beacons School Success. new text end

new text begin (a) For a grant to the YMCA of the North for the
Beacons School Success program to provide high quality after-school and summer school
programming across the metropolitan area to children in kindergarten through grade 12:

new text begin (b) The Beacons School Success program must work with schools and youth to engage
young people as leaders and learners.

new text begin (c) Prior to awarding the grant, the Beacons School Success program must submit to the
commissioner of education a description of the program's goals and strategies consistent
with the evidence-based grant requirements of Minnesota Statutes, section 127A.20. The
Beacons School Success program must issue a preliminary report on the program's status
on January 15, 2023, and submit a final report consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section
127A.20.
