1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. [609.807] EVENT TICKETS; PROHIBITED ACTS.
1.6(a) As used in this section: (1) "initial seller" means a person or entity with whom
1.7a provider of an event or venue has contracted for the sale of tickets for the purpose
1.8of the initial sale of those tickets to the general public; and (2) "ticket" means a ticket
1.9of admission to a sporting event, theater, musical performance, or place of public
1.10entertainment or amusement of any kind.
1.11(b) The initial seller of tickets shall make available for sale all tickets under control
1.12of the initial seller in the manner and under terms directed by the provider of the event
1.13or venue. The initial seller shall not, unless authorized by the provider of the event or
1.14venue, divert tickets from the initial sale to the general public to be sold in any other
1.15manner or under any other terms.
1.16(c) No person or entity, with intent to defraud, may sell or offer for sale a ticket that
1.17is invalid, counterfeit, altered, or otherwise not genuine.
1.18(d) A violation of this section is a misdemeanor.
1.19EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2009, and applies to
1.20offenses committed on or after that date.
