Standards Board to make teacher recruitment grants; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

and implement an outreach and marketing campaign under this subdivision:

new text begin (b) The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board must issue a request for
proposals to develop and implement a statewide outreach and marketing campaign to elevate
the teaching profession, recruit teachers, and encourage prospective educators, with an
emphasis directed toward educators of color and American Indian educators.

new text begin (c) Grant applicants must apply in the form and manner specified by the board. When
awarding grants, the board must give priority to proposals that build recruitment and outreach
efforts through teacher recruitment fellows, especially proposals supporting current and
former Teacher of the Year finalists as recruitment fellows to encourage prospective educators
throughout the state.
