A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; specifying eligibility of electrical generation under
the greater Minnesota business development public infrastructure grant program
and increasing the maximum grant amount for that purpose; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2014, section 116J.431, subdivisions 1a, 6.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 116J.431, subdivision 1a, is amended to
read:


Subd. 1a.

Definitions.

(a) For purposes of this section, the following terms have
the meanings given.

(b) "City" means a statutory or home rule charter city located outside the
metropolitan area, as defined in section 473.121, subdivision 2.

(c) "County" means a county located outside the metropolitan area, as defined in
section 473.121, subdivision 2.

(d) "Public infrastructure" means publicly owned physical infrastructure necessary to
support economic development projects, including, but not limited to, sewers, water supply
systems, utility extensions, streets, wastewater treatment systems, storm water management
systems, and facilities for pretreatment of wastewater to remove phosphorus, and electrical
generation improvements to improve or expand the electric power standby capacity
.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 116J.431, subdivision 6, is amended to read:


Subd. 6.

Maximum grant amount.

(a) Except as provided in paragraph (b), a
county or city may receive no more than $1,000,000 in two years for one or more projects.

(b) A city may receive up to $5,000,000 for an electrical generation improvement to
improve or expand electric power standby capacity.

Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.

Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final enactment.
