  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; modifying provision 
  1.3             governing the passing of a parked emergency vehicle; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 169.18, 
  1.5             subdivision 11. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 169.18, 
  1.8   subdivision 11, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 11.  [PASSING PARKED EMERGENCY VEHICLE.] When 
  1.10  approaching and before passing an a stationary authorized 
  1.11  emergency vehicle that is parked or otherwise stopped on or next 
  1.12  to a street or highway having two or more lanes in the same 
  1.13  direction displaying emergency lighting, the driver of a 
  1.14  vehicle, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall: 
  1.15     (1) slow to a minimum of ten miles per hour less than the 
  1.16  posted speed limit; or 
  1.17     (2) when driving on a street or highway having two or more 
  1.18  lanes in the same direction, safely move the vehicle to a lane 
  1.19  away from the emergency vehicle so that, when possible, there is 
  1.20  one full traffic lane of separation or buffer between the 
  1.21  vehicle and the emergency vehicle.
