A bill for an act
 relating to human services; providing medical assistance coverage for community
paramedic services; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 256B.0625, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 256B.0625, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Medical assistance covers services
provided by a community paramedic who meets the requirements for additional
certification under section 144E.28, subdivision 9, in accordance with protocols and
supervisory standards established by the ambulance service medical director under that
subdivision. These services include, but are not limited to, the services identified by
the commissioner under Laws 2011, chapter 12, section 3, paragraph (c). Payment for
community paramedics shall be set at 90 percent of the rate paid to physician assistants for
the same or similar service, and must satisfy the criteria specified in Laws 2011, chapter
12, section 3, paragraph (b).
