  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor vehicle fuel franchises; removing an 
  1.3             expiration date; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, 
  1.4             section 80C.147. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 80C.147, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      80C.147 [CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP.] 
  1.9      A motor vehicle fuel franchisor, or an affiliate of such 
  1.10  franchisor, who determines to (1) sell or transfer its interests 
  1.11  in marketing premises occupied by a franchisee, and (2) in 
  1.12  connection with such sale or transfer assigns its interest as a 
  1.13  franchisor in a franchise agreement applicable to such premises, 
  1.14  shall offer to the franchisee occupying the premises those 
  1.15  rights contained in United States Code, title 15, section 
  1.16  2802(b)(3)(D)(iii)(I) or (II).  This section expires 12 months 
  1.17  after May 5, 2000. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
