BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal years
designated.

new text begin Up to 20 percent of the funds appropriated annually may be used to provide grants
to local Head Start agencies to provide funds for innovative programs designed either
to target Head Start resources to particular at-risk groups of children or to provide
services in addition to those currently allowable under federal Head Start regulations.
The commissioner must award funds for innovative programs under this paragraph on a
competitive basis.
