  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; directing 
  1.3             commissioner of transportation to allow use of 
  1.4             high-occupancy vehicle lanes by certain other vehicles.
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION; HIGH-OCCUPANCY 
  1.7   VEHICLE LANES.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of transportation shall by order permit 
  1.9   the use, in freeway lanes within the metropolitan area that on 
  1.10  the effective date of this act were reserved exclusively for 
  1.11  high-occupancy vehicles, of the following vehicles without 
  1.12  regard to the number of occupants: 
  1.13     (1) taxis licensed by a political subdivision; 
  1.14     (2) limousines bearing license plates issued under 
  1.15  Minnesota Statutes, section 168.128; 
  1.16     (3) buses outwardly equipped and readily identifiable as 
  1.17  school buses or Head Start buses; 
  1.18     (4) passenger vehicles with a capacity of ten or more 
  1.19  persons including the driver; and 
  1.20     (5) any other passenger vehicles operated by motor carriers 
  1.21  of passengers as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 221.011, 
  1.22  subdivision 48.
