A bill for an act
relating to relating to housing; providing emergency rental assistance for a tenant
who has vacated unit.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RENTAL ASSISTANCE FOR TENANTS WHO HAVE VACATED UNIT.

new text begin The Housing Finance Agency must provide rental assistance under the COVID-19
emergency rental assistance program for a tenant who has vacated a rental unit for any
reason unless prohibited by federal law. If the tenant who has vacated the unit fails to apply
for the rental assistance, the landlord may apply for the assistance on behalf of the tenant.
