A bill for an act
relating to higher education; appropriating money for the academic health system
at the University of Minnesota.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA; ACADEMIC
HEALTH SYSTEM.

new text begin $80,000,000 in fiscal year 2025 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of
Regents of the University of Minnesota to expand and enhance the University of Minnesota's
academic health system. This appropriation may be used for all aspects of academic health
planning and delivery, including but not limited to the establishment of up to four new
medical discovery teams, maintenance and expansion of health care in underserved
communities, expansion of education and workforce development opportunities and career
pathways for health care professionals, transformation of primary care, support for the
Center for Learning Health Systems Sciences, and enhancement and development of a rural
health clinical trials network and prehospital care network.
