  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to towns; permitting town board members to 
  1.3             serve concurrently as the chief of a fire department; 
  1.4             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.5             chapter 365. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [365.182] [TOWN OFFICERS MAY SERVE ON FIRE 
  1.8   DEPARTMENT.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a person may 
  1.10  serve as both a town board member and as the chief of a fire 
  1.11  department, however organized, concurrently.  This section does 
  1.12  not apply to members of a town board exercising powers under 
  1.13  chapter 368. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  1.16  enactment.
