  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to towns; permitting certain town officers to 
  1.3             serve concurrently as firefighters; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 365. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [365.182] [TOWN OFFICERS MAY SERVE ON FIRE 
  1.7   DEPARTMENT.] 
  1.8      Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a person may 
  1.9   serve as both an officer of a town board and as a member or 
  1.10  officer of a fire department, however organized, concurrently.  
  1.11  This section does not apply to members of a town board 
  1.12  exercising powers under chapter 368. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  1.15  enactment.
