  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; exempting garbage 
  1.3             trucks and recycling vehicles from certain weight 
  1.4             restrictions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, 
  1.5             section 169.87, subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.87, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [GARBAGE TRUCKS AND RECYCLING VEHICLES.] Weight 
  1.10  restrictions imposed under subdivisions 1 and 2 do not apply to 
  1.11  a two-axle vehicle that does not exceed 20,000 pounds per single 
  1.12  axle and is designed and used exclusively for collecting 
  1.13  household refuse or garbage or recycling discarded household 
  1.14  refuse, while the vehicle is engaged in collecting or recycling 
  1.15  in a political subdivision that mandates curbside recycling 
  1.16  pickup. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
