A bill for an act
relating to education; decertifying teacher's union after bargaining cycle;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 179A.12, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 179A.12, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Within 90 days of a contract settlement that is
approved by a unit that consists of teachers in a school district or another public education
setting, the commissioner shall decertify the exclusive representative of the unit. An
exclusive representative decertified under this subdivision may be considered as a choice
on the ballot in a subsequent certification election conducted according to this section.
