A bill for an act
relating to health care; requiring the commissioner of human services to regularly
consider the potential for improving quality and obtaining cost savings through
the use of alternative and complementary treatment methods; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2018, section 256B.043, subdivision 1.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 256B.043, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
The commissioner of
human services, through the medical director and in consultation with the Health Services
Policy Committee established under section 256B.0625, subdivision 3c, as part of the
commissioner's ongoing duties, shall new text begin regularly new text end consider the potential for improving quality
and obtaining cost savings through greater use of alternative and complementary treatment
methods and clinical practice; shall incorporate these methods into the medical assistance
and MinnesotaCare programs; and shall make related legislative recommendations as
appropriate. The commissioner shall post the recommendations required under this
subdivision on agency websites.
