A bill for an act
 relating to public safety; expanding venue for the crime of aiding an offender;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 609.495, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 609.495, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in section 627.01, an
offense committed under subdivision 1 or 3 may be prosecuted in:

new text begin (1) the county where the offense occurred;

new text begin (2) the county where the underlying criminal act occurred; or
 new text end

new text begin (3) the county where the investigating law enforcement agency is located.
