  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money for 
  1.3             unfunded flood-related costs. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [COMMISSIONER OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.7   LEARNING.] The following sum is appropriated from the general 
  1.8   fund to the commissioner of children, families, and learning in 
  1.9   the fiscal year designated. 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [UNFUNDED FLOOD-RELATED COSTS.] For a 
  1.11  disbursement grant for costs related to flooding in 1997 not 
  1.12  covered by federal disaster relief, state match, or insurance 
  1.13  proceeds: 
  1.14     $9,075,000    .....    1998 
  1.15  Of this amount, $400,000 is for special school district No. 1, 
  1.16  Minneapolis, for Edison high school; $1,250,000 is for 
  1.17  independent school district No. 2854, Ada-Borup; and $7,425,000 
  1.18  is for independent school district No. 595, East Grand Forks. 
  1.19  Part of the appropriation to independent school district No. 
  1.20  595, East Grand Forks, may be used to convert the Valley 
  1.21  elementary school into a facility for community, early 
  1.22  childhood, and senior programs. 
  1.23     The commissioner shall determine a schedule for payments to 
  1.24  the school districts. 
  2.1      This appropriation is available until June 30, 1999. 
  2.2      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.3      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
