A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a year-round indoor public
market in North Minneapolis.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PUBLIC MARKET; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $4,500,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the North Minneapolis community
in Minnesota with nonprofit organizational partners, to acquire property, and to predesign,
design, construct, renovate, furnish, and equip a year-round indoor public market to create
a gathering place for North Minneapolis youth and families to gather and connect with their
history and culture and practice commerce together. This is a onetime appropriation and is
available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section
16A.642.
