  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to public safety; providing a retroactive 
  1.3             effective date for the requirement that employers 
  1.4             continue to provide health insurance coverage when a 
  1.5             peace officer or firefighter is disabled or injured in 
  1.6             the line of duty; amending Laws 1997, chapter 239, 
  1.7             article 8, section 37. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Laws 1997, chapter 239, article 8, section 37, 
  1.10  is amended to read: 
  1.11     Sec. 37.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 6 is effective May 31, 1997. 
  1.13     Sections 28 and 29 are effective August 1, 1997, and apply 
  1.14  to offenses committed on or after that date.
