  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human rights; suspending a deadline during 
  1.3             mediation in certain cases; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 363.06, by adding a subdivision.
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 363.06, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 3b.  [ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION.] The running of 
  1.9   the 12-month period during which the commissioner must make a 
  1.10  determination of probable cause to credit allegations is 
  1.11  suspended during a period of time specified by the commissioner 
  1.12  during which the parties are involved in mediation or other 
  1.13  alternative dispute resolution that has been sanctioned by the 
  1.14  commissioner.
