A bill for an act
relating to education finance; appropriating money for teacher licensure application
fees and background checks.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

indicated in this section are appropriated from the general fund to the Professional Educator
Licensing and Standards Board for the fiscal years designated.

(a) For education licensure
application processing fees under Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.21, subdivision 1:

(b) To receive an application processing fee waiver under this section, a teacher must
have left the teaching workforce for at least six months and returned to the teaching
workforce.

(c) Any balance in the first year does not cancel and is available in the second year.

(a) For education background checks
under Minnesota Statutes, section 123B.03, subdivision 1, initiated by the Bureau of Criminal
Apprehension or the school hiring authority:
