  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public contracts; exempting the 
  1.3             reconstruction of the Bridges Medical Center in Norman 
  1.4             County from competitive bid requirements. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EXEMPTION.] 
  1.7      Because the project for the repair and reconstruction of 
  1.8   the damaged Bridges Medical Center in Norman County is emergency 
  1.9   construction, that project is exempt from the competitive bid 
  1.10  requirements of Minnesota Statutes, section 471.345, or other 
  1.11  law or charter. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; NO LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.13     Section 1 is effective the day after its final enactment.  
  1.14  Under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1, 
  1.15  paragraph (a), no local approval is required.
