  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; restoring funding for the basic 
  1.3             community education program; appropriating money; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.5             124D.20, subdivision 3; Laws 2003, First Special 
  1.6             Session chapter 9, article 8, section 7, subdivision 2.
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2003 Supplement, section 
  1.9   124D.20, subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 3.  [GENERAL COMMUNITY EDUCATION REVENUE.] The 
  1.11  general community education revenue for a district equals $5.95 
  1.12  for fiscal year 2003 and 2004 and $5.23 for fiscal year 2005 and 
  1.13  later, times the greater of 1,335 or the population of the 
  1.14  district.  The population of the district is determined 
  1.15  according to section 275.14.  
  1.16     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.17  following final enactment.  
  1.18     Sec. 2.  Laws 2003, First Special Session chapter 9, 
  1.19  article 8, section 7, subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.20     Subd. 2.  [COMMUNITY EDUCATION AID.] For community 
  1.21  education aid under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.20: 
  1.22       $5,495,000     .....     2004 
  1.23       $3,406,000 $4,439,000    .....     2005 
  1.24     The 2004 appropriation includes $956,000 for 2003 and 
  1.25  $4,539,000 for 2004.  
  1.26     The 2005 appropriation includes $1,134,000 for 2004 and 
  2.1   $2,272,000 $3,405,000 for 2005. 
  2.2      [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  2.3   following final enactment.
