relating to capital investment; appropriating money for capital improvements to
children's museums across the state.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN
MINNESOTA, MANKATO.

new text begin $10,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the Children's Museum of Southern
Minnesota, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to predesign, design, construct, renovate,
furnish, and equip capital improvements at the museum in the city of Mankato. This
appropriation includes money for a new museum building expansion, renovation of existing
exhibit space, and the addition of an outdoor nature play space. This appropriation is available
until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
This is a onetime appropriation.

of employment and economic development for a grant to Great River Children's Museum,
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to design, construct, renovate, furnish, and equip capital
improvements to renovate and expand a 25,000 square foot facility, donated to the museum
for the purpose of housing a children's museum in the city of St. Cloud, and the creation of
an adjoining outdoor exhibit space. This appropriation is available until the project is
completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime
appropriation.

MUSEUM, GRAND RAPIDS.

of employment and economic development for a grant to the Judy Garland Children's
Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to acquire property, and to predesign, design,
construct, renovate, equip, and furnish capital improvements at the museum in the city of
Grand Rapids. This includes purchasing land for development of interactive enrichment;
constructing an outdoor playground and seating area; constructing an indoor theater space;
major projects to preserve or replace mechanical and electrical systems, including security
and accessibility improvements; parking lot renovations to support ongoing operations. This
appropriation is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota
Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime appropriation.

a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to acquire property, and to design, construct, renovate,
equip, and furnish capital improvements for an expansion of the museum in the city of
Fergus Falls. This appropriation is available until the project is completed or abandoned,
subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime appropriation.

of employment and economic development for a grant to WonderTrek Children's Museum,
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to design, construct, equip, and furnish capital
improvements to phase I of a 9 acre children's museum campus in the city of Baxter. This
appropriation includes money for site improvements, infrastructure, landscaping, a 2,000
square foot year-round indoor-outdoor classroom, 4 acres of nature play exhibits and
environments, outdoor recreation activities and education, and final design of a new 27,000
square foot museum building. This appropriation is available until the project is completed
or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime
appropriation.

of employment and economic development for a grant to Wheel and Cog Children's Museum
of Hutchinson, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to make safety improvements needed to
the main entrance, add lavatories to meet the needs of the volume of guests, and renovate
add new exhibits relate S.T.R.E.A.M. learning - hands-on and fun. This appropriation
includes money for the renovation, installation of new equipment, exhibits, furniture, fixtures,
and refurnish and update plumbing and exhibits in three mall spaces to provide new low
sensory play space, meeting area for local community groups, renovate and add nursing
rooms, updated lavatories, plumbing and add a new safer entrance to the museum space.
This appropriation is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to
Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime appropriation.

of employment and economic development for a grant to the The Village Children's Museum,
a program of the United Way of West Central Minnesota, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,
to acquire property, and to predesign, design, renovate, equip, and furnish capital
improvements at the museum in the city of Willmar. This appropriation includes money for
the purchase of a new site and renovations for a 19,000 sq ft museum building to support
ongoing operations. This appropriation is available until the project is completed or
abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. This is a onetime appropriation.
