A bill for an act
relating to highway construction; requiring a special slurry disposal provision
in certain highway construction, improvement, or repair contracts; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 161.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin In any contract that includes concrete diamond grinding or concrete sawing
associated with the construction, improvement, or repair of a road, the commissioner
of transportation shall include a special provision relating to resulting concrete slurry.
The special provision must include language requiring removal of slurry by vacuuming;
requiring deposit of slurry along the in-slope of the roadway for diamond grinding;
prohibiting the contractor from allowing slurry to flow across lanes of traffic or into gutters
or other closed drainage facilities; and specifying that slurry shall not be placed closer
than 100 feet from natural streams and lakes, or three feet from water-filled ditches.
