A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring revisor of statutes to survey recipients of
free state publications.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

OF STATUTES.

new text begin On or before March 1, 2010, the revisor of statutes shall survey in writing the
persons or entities authorized to receive free distributions of 2010 Minnesota Statutes and
2010 Minnesota Laws under Minnesota Statutes, section 3C.12 or 2011 Minnesota Rules
under section 14.47, subdivision 8. The survey must notify the recipients that the text of
the statutes, laws, and rules will be available on the revisor's Web site prior to availability
of the print publications, and ask if the recipient wishes to continue to receive the free copy
or copies. The revisor may distribute the survey to a representative of each entity to further
identify the number of free copies, if any, requested and respond to the revisor, except that
the revisor shall survey each member of the legislature. The revisor shall distribute only
the number of free copies requested in response to the survey. If a later request in writing
is received, the revisor may distribute the free copies authorized by law, if available.
