  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to transportation; appropriating money to 
  1.3             continue operations of safety rest areas. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2004 and $2,000,000 in fiscal 
  1.7   year 2005 is appropriated to the commissioner of transportation 
  1.8   for the operation of safety rest areas on interstate and other 
  1.9   trunk highways.  This appropriation is in addition to any other 
  1.10  appropriation for those fiscal years for this purpose.  If the 
  1.11  appropriation for either year is insufficient, the appropriation 
  1.12  for the other year is available.  Until July 1, 2005, the 
  1.13  commissioner may not close any such safety rest area.
