  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to children; providing for grants to the 
  1.3             youth intervention program; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $1,450,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of economic security to expand funding for the 
  1.8   youth intervention program established under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.9   section 268.30, subdivisions 1 and 2.  The appropriation is 
  1.10  available until expended.  Funding will be used to expand 
  1.11  existing programs to serve unmet needs and to create new 
  1.12  programs in underserved areas of the state.  The commissioner of 
  1.13  economic security shall grant one percent of the youth 
  1.14  intervention program funding to the Minnesota youth intervention 
  1.15  programs association (YIPA) to provide collaborative training 
  1.16  and technical assistance to the community-based grantees of the 
  1.17  program.
