  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; modifying requirements for an 
  1.3             agreement to regulate nuclear materials; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 144.1202, subdivision 
  1.5             4. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 144.1202, 
  1.8   subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4.  [AGREEMENT; CONDITIONS OF IMPLEMENTATION.] (a) An 
  1.10  agreement entered into before August 2, 2003, must remain 
  1.11  authorized under subdivision 1 remains in effect until 
  1.12  terminated under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, United States 
  1.13  Code, title 42, section 2021, paragraph (j).  The governor may 
  1.14  not enter into an initial agreement with the Nuclear Regulatory 
  1.15  Commission after August 1, 2003.  If an agreement is not entered 
  1.16  into by August 1, 2003, any rules adopted under this section are 
  1.17  repealed effective August 1, 2003. 
  1.18     (b) An A proposed agreement authorized under subdivision 1 
  1.19  must be approved by law before it may be implemented submitted 
  1.20  to the chairs of the house and senate committees having 
  1.21  jurisdiction over health at least 30 days before the agreement 
  1.22  is entered.  
  1.23     (c) Rules adopted under this section and according to 
  1.24  chapter 14 may be implemented on the date an agreement is 
  1.25  entered under subdivision 1. 
  2.1      [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  2.2   following final enactment.
