A bill for an act
relating to education; allowing school districts to
determine the school year starting date; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
120A; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2004, section
120A.40.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Consistent with other law governing the school calendar, a
school district may determine the date on which to start the
school year for purposes of providing student instruction and
staff development for kindergarten through grade 12.

This section is effective the day
following final enactment and applies to the 2005-2006 school
year and later.
