  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             regional sludge management demonstration project. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $500,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   public facilities authority for a grant to the regional sludge 
  1.8   joint powers board consisting of several cities, including, but 
  1.9   not limited to, Arlington, Brownton, Glencoe, Henderson, 
  1.10  Litchfield, Lester Prairie and Maple Lake for a regional sludge 
  1.11  management demonstration project.  Project costs may include the 
  1.12  purchase of a mobile belt press, storage requirements, and local 
  1.13  treatment plant modifications.  The joint powers board shall 
  1.14  submit reports on the results of the demonstration project to 
  1.15  the chair of the senate jobs, housing and community development 
  1.16  committee and the chair of the senate environment and natural 
  1.17  resources committee, as well as the chair of the house 
  1.18  environment and natural resources policy committee and the chair 
  1.19  of the house commerce, jobs, and economic development committee 
  1.20  by January 31, 2002, and January 31, 2003.
