  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the military; exempting the national guard 
  1.3             and the department of military affairs from certain 
  1.4             prohibitions concerning weapons; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1994, section 609.66, subdivision 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 609.66, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [EXCEPTIONS.] Nothing in this section prohibits 
  1.10  the possession of the articles mentioned by museums or 
  1.11  collectors of art or for other lawful purposes of public 
  1.12  exhibition.  The prohibitions of subdivisions 1, paragraph (a), 
  1.13  clause (2), and 1b are not applicable to governmental military 
  1.14  organizations including, but not limited to, the national guard 
  1.15  and the department of military affairs, to the extent these 
  1.16  entities are conducting safe training and recruiting activities 
  1.17  under direct supervision of qualified military personnel.
