1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 135A.51, subdivision 2, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subd. 2. Senior citizen. "Senior citizen" means a person who has reached 66 64
1.9years of age before the beginning of any term, semester or quarter, in which a course of
1.10study is pursued, or a person receiving a railroad retirement annuity who has reached 60
1.11years of age before the beginning of the term.
1.12EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day after final enactment for
1.13terms beginning after July 1, 2011.

1.14    Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 135A.52, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
1.15    Subd. 2. Term; income of senior citizens. (a) Except under paragraph (b), there
1.16shall be no limit to the number of terms, quarters or semesters a senior citizen may attend
1.17courses, nor income limitation imposed in determining eligibility.
1.18    (b) A senior citizen enrolled in a closed enrollment contract training program or any
1.19part of a farm or small business management education program that includes on-site
1.20individualized instruction is not eligible for benefits under subdivision 1.
1.21EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment for
1.22terms beginning after July 1, 2011.
