  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the county of Goodhue; allowing a 1998 
  1.3             levy limit adjustment for certain payments in lieu of 
  1.4             tax. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [COUNTY OF GOODHUE; LEVY LIMITS.] 
  1.7      (a) The levy limit base of the county of Goodhue for taxes 
  1.8   levied in 1998 under Minnesota Statutes, section 275.71, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, paragraph (b), is increased by $422,323. 
  1.10     (b) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 275.07, 
  1.11  subdivision 1, the county of Goodhue may certify an increased 
  1.12  levy to the commissioner of revenue by March 31, 1999, provided 
  1.13  that (1) the total levy certified does not exceed the amount 
  1.14  certified under Minnesota Statutes, section 275.065, for levies 
  1.15  payable in 1999, and (2) the portion of the levy subject to the 
  1.16  limit under Minnesota Statutes, section 275.71, subdivision 4, 
  1.17  does not exceed the limit after the adjustment in paragraph (a). 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Upon compliance by the governing body of the county of 
  1.20  Goodhue with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3, 
  1.21  section 1 is effective for taxes levied in 1998, payable in 1999.
