  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health occupations; establishing a 
  1.3             physician assistant advisory council; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 147A.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [147A.27] [PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT ADVISORY 
  1.7   COUNCIL.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [MEMBERSHIP.] The physician assistant 
  1.9   advisory council is created and is composed of seven persons 
  1.10  appointed by the board.  The seven persons must include: 
  1.11     (1) two public members, as defined in section 214.02; 
  1.12     (2) three physician assistants registered under this 
  1.13  chapter; and 
  1.14     (3) two licensed physicians with experience supervising 
  1.15  physician assistants. 
  1.16     Subd. 2.  [ORGANIZATION.] The council shall be organized 
  1.17  and administered under section 15.059, except that the advisory 
  1.18  council shall expire on June 30, 2007. 
  1.19     Subd. 3.  [DUTIES.] The council shall advise the board 
  1.20  regarding: 
  1.21     (1) physician assistant registration standards; 
  1.22     (2) enforcement of grounds for discipline; 
  1.23     (3) distribution of information regarding physician 
  1.24  assistant registration standards; 
  1.25     (4) applications and recommendations of applicants for 
  2.1   registration or registration renewal; 
  2.2      (5) complaints and recommendations to the board regarding 
  2.3   disciplinary matters and proceedings concerning applicants and 
  2.4   registrants according to sections 214.10; 214.103; and 214.13, 
  2.5   subdivisions 6 and 7; and 
  2.6      (6) perform other duties authorized for the council by 
  2.7   chapter 214 as directed by the board.
