A bill for an act
relating to animal health; establishing an interagency coordinator for bovine
tuberculosis control and eradication; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 35.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Coordinator. new text end

new text begin The governor shall designate a person to coordinate
the interagency response to bovine tuberculosis in northwestern Minnesota. The person
shall coordinate the efforts of the Departments of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the
Board of Animal Health, the United States Department of Agriculture, and any other
agency involved in efforts to control and eradicate bovine tuberculosis. Beginning on
January 15, 2009, and every year thereafter, the coordinator shall report to the chairs of
the house and senate committees with jurisdiction over agriculture and natural resources
policy and finance an interagency plan to control and eradicate bovine tuberculosis,
progress made to date, and any additional resources required to fully eradicate bovine
tuberculosis in this state.

Department of Agriculture publishes notice in the Federal Register that the entire state has
achieved a bovine tuberculosis status of accredited free.
