A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the Hallie Q. Brown
Community Center.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; HALLIE Q. BROWN COMMUNITY CENTER.

new text begin $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the Hallie Q. Brown Community
Center for the planning, predesign, site preparation, and construction of an expansion of
Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. This appropriation includes money for additional
classrooms, expanded basic needs space, remodeled seniors space, expanded and redesigned
Community Archive, and associated capital improvements that will facilitate greater access
for Minnesota residents to necessary services and resources as well as the preservation of
a key part of Minnesota history, the Rondo community. This is a onetime appropriation and
is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes,
section 16A.642.
