A bill for an act
relating to state lands; authorizing private sale of certain tax-forfeited land in
Stevens County.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND; STEVENS COUNTY.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding the public sale provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, or
other law to the contrary, Stevens County may sell by private sale the tax-forfeited land
described in paragraph (c) to one or more adjoining landowners.

new text begin (b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the attorney general for the fair
market value of the land. The attorney general may make changes to the land description
to correct errors and ensure accuracy.

new text begin (c) The land to be sold is located in Stevens County and is described as: a strip
of land 66 feet wide, the center line of which follows the following measurements and
directions: the point of beginning being a point which is on the east right-of-way line of
T.H. 59 and 626 feet South of said north line of the Southwest Quarter of Section 18,
Township 125 North, Range 41 West; thence due East and parallel with the north line of
said Southwest Quarter of Section 18, Township 125 North, Range 41 West, a distance of
1,310 feet, subject to easements.

best be served if the lands were returned to private ownership.
